Sea of Tranquility
Residential Interiors

Inspired by science fiction, the natural stucco delivers a lunar surface-like gray texture; the hand-dyed solid wood floor adds a sense of roughness and gentleness. These elements together create an inclusive modern wabi-sabi atmosphere through subtle control of the expressions of materials. The tea sets, antiques, and vintage furniture that the house residents adore, along with the mountains and water, are brought into the space. The use of black, gray, and white, which is less irritating, conveys a feeling of tranquility and answers the desire of a 60-year-old couple to find a place to seek spiritual peace.
